Provenance: From the estate of Fred Meyer at the sale of his Oz Library, Bloomsbury Auctions, New York, September 2008.

Milt Youngren illustrated The Laughing Dragon of Oz by Frank Joslyn Baum (Racine, Wis.: Whitman Publishing Co., 1934). The Enchanted Princess of Oz was to be published in 1935 as a sequel, but a lawsuit by Reilly and Lee prevented the manuscript's issuance. This illustration inscribed to Oz collector Fred M. Meyer twenty years later is believed to be the only surviving original artwork from the second Oz book by L. Frank Baum's son.
